Every bride knows she needs to schedule a hair and makeup trial in order to prepare her looks for the big day.
Less of them also know it’s important to prepare herself for those trials. No one tells you these tricks, even though they are actually very useful.
These tips apply for both your hair and makeup trials.
1. It might take more than one trial
Many brides schedule their hair and makeup trial few weeks before the wedding. And they are expecting that at the end of the meeting, the work on their final hairstyle and makeup will be done.
But this is not always the case. In reality, it might actually take more than just one hair or makeup trial to find the perfect look.
Plan ahead and scheduled the first trial soon enough so there is still time for second and even third trial before the wedding day comes.
2. Bring a picture of your wedding dress
Your hairstyle and makeup should definitely work together with the style of your dress. Therefore it’s a big help for your hair stylist and makeup artist if they can see your dresses before you start to discuss the final looks.
Tip: If there is a possibility to see what you look like in your dress while having the final hairstyle and makeup on, try to make that happen.
It might be a bit complicated regarding planning. But it will definitely pay off to make sure what it looks like. You will feel more relaxed and prepared for your wedding day.
3. Bring inspirational pictures
There are so many beautiful pictures out there. You have probably collected tons of them, whether on Pinterest or in your binder.
My advice is to narrow it down to the best five pictures you like the most. It will help your stylist to see your taste and come up with the most suitable hairstyles. The same goes for your makeup trials.

4. Wash your hair before the trial
The night before the hair trial I advise you to wash and blow dry your hair. If your hair is rather dry, you can do it even two night before the trial.
The truth is hair that hasn’t been washed the same day is actually easier to style.
5. Bring the veil
In case you want to wear a veil or other type of hair accessories, you should make sure to always bring it with you to the hair trials.
Some hairstyles might be not suitable for your veil or accessories. Therefore you need to make sure, that everything fits perfectly together.

6. Take care of your skin first
We can all agree that putting makeup on a skin that wasn’t taken care of is like decorating a messy flat. On the first look it might look just fine. But if you look closer, you can see all the flaws. And people will be looking at you all day long on your wedding day.
You can take care of your skin at home or you can schedule a meeting with an esthetician and arrange regular facials. Either way, you should make sure that your skin is hydrated and nourished.
Take care of your skin every morning and evening. It won’t take you more than three minutes and it will make a huge difference after few weeks.
7. Take care of your brows too
Not just your skin, but also your brows can completely change the game when it comes to makeup and overall visage.
Shaping the brows in a correct way can change the way your face looks. It can also influence what makeup style is the one for you.
Shaping your brows is only one of the many things you should do before your big day. Read more about all the things you need to do and the correct timeline for your pre-wedding self-care.
8. Try on the makeup after tanning
If you know, you’re planning to radically change the tone of your skin for your wedding date, make sure to try the makeup after you’ve reached the desired tone.
Certain colors only look good on certain skin tones. Changing it shortly before the wedding could bring up unexpected issues.
9. Wear white
Regardless of the hue of your wedding dress, you should make sure to wear the same one for your makeup trials.
It’s the best way to see immediately how this hue works with your skin tone and what does it look like in combination with your makeup.
Your makeup artist should be able to adjust all the colors to the hue and make it a great fit.
